BUSH DEMANDS TOTAL VICTORY over
ConstitutionenemyConstitutionenemy. September Eleventh changed everything. Or some think it did. Or one guy thinks it really did. Too bad it is the President of the United States. You remember him. Swears to defend the United States Contitution. We the People. Just a piece of paper.“I don’t give a goddamn,” Bush retorted. “I’m the President and the Commander-in-Chief. Do it my way.”
“Mr. President,” one aide in the meeting said. “There is a valid case that the provisions in this law undermine the Constitution.”
“Stop throwing the Constitution in my face,” Bush screamed back. “It’s just a goddamned piece of paper!”ENOUGH WITH OSAMA. We may have more problems at home than abroad. Is this parody of Bush or the truth? Or has Bush become such a parody of himself, nothing can be believed. Or disbelieved. Of course it would help Bush here if he hadn’t said: “If this were a dictatorship, it'd be a heck of a lot easier.. .just as long as I'm the dictator...”
MORE FROM Karen Kwiatkowski at HuffPo: From President Jefferson to President George W. Bush, we are witnesses to a stark and frightening intellectual devolution. But Jefferson knew well what Dubya sees through a glass darkly. The Constitution, some years after our War of Independence, was designed to establish a more centralized state, with a stronger executive -- perhaps even a kingly commander. It was only reluctantly and weakly constrained by those amendments we call the Bill of Rights, and in light of Patriot Act renewals and a host of other infringements, it is primarily that part of the Constitution Bush so heartily denigrates.
THE HERETIK SADLY notes the way Bush treats the Constitution as a piece of paper to be tossed away, if only figuratively, as President who could charge him with littering?. Bush now does a Dave Chapelle doing Rick James doing the President: I’m the President of the United States, bitch !

"If this were a dictatorship, it'd be a heck of a lot easier.. .just as long as I'm the dictator..."
I'll be damned! If there's going to be a dictatorship, "I'm" going to be the dictator. Well either me or one of my appointees.

"If this were a dictatorship, it'd be a heck of a lot easier.. .just as long as I'm the dictator..."
Um, just a thought, but how did W's business ventures turn out when he was a de facto dictator?
Luckily for him, he had well-heeled backers to rescue him from his own incompetence in those days.
Who'll come to his rescue now?
Maybe we'll find out in 2006 (and if not, well, somebody will assume the mess in 2008)

It sickens me to watch. Ever speech given surrounded by the military.
The last one, the master plan in Iraq speech...
Given at the Naval Academy to an auditorium of students. The future of America and our military.
What does he say?
We'll leave when the military says we will, not when Congress (or by extension, the People) say we will.
It call it pretty damn close to a dictatorship now.
But then again we better all watch what we say, otherwise a plane might fly into our homes.

Capitol Hill Blue seems to have a recurring problem with anonymous sources.
I mean, conned for 20 years by the same guy? Doug Thompson should have retired in shame. Obviously he is a gullible mark, and if he doesn't name his "sources" I won't believe a word he says.
