Shakespeare's Sister

The Fixer, a Vietnam vet, has a few thoughts to share that are worth a read, too.

An Angry Old Broad

It's not worth it,it can never be.How could it?

The Chain of Command is to blame, this was allowed, even encouraged.Torture,Rape,Murder.It's an infection that started in the Pentagon and worked it's way into the soldier's daily life.Dehumanizing the"enemy",this happens in War,but I wonder,to this degree?Isn't that why there are rules of engagement? To prevent much of this?

I'm tired of all of it.Truly tired to the core of my being.

The Heretik

Not just rules of engagement, Angry Old Broad, but also those pesky conventions from Geneva and the Uniform Code of Military Justice.

Understand the fatigue you feel. I do think those in power expect us to get worn down and that we will go away. But we won't and this issue won't either.

H, what would we do w/out you. A friend of mine from the UAE sent me the following-- WAR Pornography:

For almost a year, American soldiers stationed in Iraq and Afghanistan have been taking photographs of dead bodies, many of them horribly mutilated or blown to pieces, and sending them to Web site administrator Chris Wilson. In return for letting him post these images, Wilson gives the soldiers free access to his site. American soldiers have been using the pictures of disfigured Iraqi corpses as currency to buy pornography.

My thoughts on the same here.
