What is there to fear from the drunken philosopher? Beatings about the head with philosophy?

Aristotle

Young youth, fair maiden, since you feel that way you must come sit by me. How do you feel about ouzo? HERE are a few tasty things to nibble on.

Did I mention your links are looking dazzling tonight?

Faust

Coptic Song by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

LEAVE we the pedants to quarrel and strive,

Rigid and cautious the teachers to be!
All of the wisest men e'er seen alive

Smile, nod, and join in the chorus with me:
"Vain 'tis to wait till the dolt grows less silly!
Play then the fool with the fool, willy-nilly,--

Children of wisdom,--remember the word!"

Merlin the old, from his glittering grave,
When I, a stripling, once spoke to him,--gave

Just the same answer as that I've preferr'd;
"Vain 'tis to wait till the dolt grows less silly!
Play then the fool with the fool, willy-nilly,--

Children of wisdom,--remember the word!"

And on the Indian breeze as it booms,
And in the depths of Egyptian tombs,

Only the same holy saying I've heard:
"Vain 'tis to wait till the dolt grows less silly!
Play then the fool with the fool, willy-nilly,--

Children of wisdom,--remember the word!"

Im'm offering a two-fer today. Take your pick between Happy Softball News and Ominous Hurricane Musings. And if you're really gluttons for punishment, I have a book report and a Bell Curve Question.

How's this for a picture?

Drunken philosopher, please say hi to Karl in the back of the bar for me...

Aristotle

Run, Agi. Run. You would be a fine candidate. You have a bit of aristos in you, lad.

Agi T. Prop

I thought about doing that just for fun. Or maybe I'll just put up some fake campaign signs around town that say VOTE AGITPROP.

Confusion in her eyes that says it all.
She's lost control.
And she's clinging to the nearest passer by,
She's lost control.
And she gave away the secrets of her past,
And said I've lost control again,
And a voice that told her when and where to act,
She said I've lost control again.

And she turned around and took me by the hand and said,
I've lost control again.
And how I'll never know just why or understand,
She said I've lost control again.
And she screamed out kicking on her side and said,
I've lost control again.
And seized up on the floor, I thought she'd die.
She said I've lost control.

The fact the fortunate sons like Al Gore (who volunteered because, as someone who was being groomed for the WH, the Gore family felt it was his duty to do so) and John Kerry served in Viet Nam, when they could have easily weasled out like W says something about their character; the fact that Kerry was able to be beaten up on Viet Nam by chickenhawks and service men alike - in an effort to support a pussy who dragged us into an unnessary war, says something about America's character.

Until the more affluent among the American people are in the position where they have to put up and risk actual adversity in the face of war themselves, we will probably always the fortunate sons & daughters of the chickenhawk Romneys, Patakis and Bushes who fail miserably as human beings but rise to the top politically w/o ever being held accountable.

ol cranky

ah crap, I put my comment in the wrong friggen thread. I think that means it bed-time for the crankster ;/

I thought about doing that just for fun. Or maybe I'll just put up some fake campaign signs around town that say VOTE AGITPROP.

I ran for and won a spot on the student senate my senior year in college. I promised to represent People Of Pattern (plaid, stripes, polka-dot, paisley, etc.), and since I was graduating, I also promised not to serve.

In retrospect, I suppose it was a bit paradoxical...

The Big One cometh, and all I can watch it on is Fox News. Even CNN Int'l reports wind speeds in kilometers, and are more interested, rightly so, in other world news.

Growing up in LA, I always wondered when, not if, a huge one would take out New Orleans.

Anyone heard from Diane from DEDSpace?
