GOOD NIGHT, AMERICA, FROM EVERYONE AT LEFTY'S LOUNGE Tonight we see . . . The Heretik guestblogging at FREIHEIT UND WISSEN . . . S is for STUPID . . .release the HOUNDS . . .
. . . REMEMBER . . . . . . oh, OUR WORD . . . . . .and don't FORGET . . . . .support THE ELEPHANT
MORE TO FOLLOW . . .
Enjoy our cheery chum with all our chums. The Heretik knows it will be a week you will be hard at work while your President clears his mind and some brush on another vacation so he is putting the all the drinks on his tab so drink and comment freely.
Clearing brush. Hee-hee. Clearing brush. We all know what that means!
(Actually, I don't, but I assume that it refers to something NEFARIOUS!)
I checked out Yellow Elephant - I've actually seen a preview of the "Battlefield 2" video game. I know that the US Army made its own game a few years back. Real nice. Sucker 'em in with simulated play.
Anyway, howdy to one and all! I'm off to a fajita party! Enjoy the BBQ!

Eep, the stylesheet at Freiheit und Wissen is messed up, can't read anything on there.

Oh, happy day From Matt at the Tattered Coat

Eep? Oy.

Freiheit Und Wissen looks okay in Firefox. What browser are you using TAS?
Posted by: The Heretik | July 31, 2005 at 08:11 PM
Internet Exploder, the only broswer I'm allowed to use at work.
Posted by: tas | July 31, 2005 at 08:39 PM
I don't know, my friend, with the loaded mouth, but on IE it does look pretty yikes.
Posted by: The Heretik | July 31, 2005 at 09:01 PM
What's on the barbie tonight, Heretik? (Thanks for the shout-out -- I'm feeling better already!)
Posted by: Matt | July 31, 2005 at 09:45 PM
re FuW on IE: yikes. I guess that's how the site would look if GWB had his way...

On the grill are the usual weenies looking to get crisped, Matt. And you know I am a sucker for Kundera.
Posted by: The Heretik | July 31, 2005 at 09:54 PM
I did not know that, H, but it's welcome news. It has actually been way too long since I've read him. I looked in vain for my copies of his books, but they must be buried in a random box in my basement. I had to resort to the web for that quote.
As for the weenies, flame on!
Posted by: Matt | July 31, 2005 at 10:00 PM
I favor Kundera's Book of Laughter and Forgetting.

Loaded Mouth looks different on every version of Internet Exploder I look at it on. Personally, I just hate IE and, by extention, all of Microsoft, Bill Gates, his family, and even his poor, innocent cats.

I'm such a bad reader. . . all I can remember from UL of Being is the woman who was described as stork-like. . . and I can't remember anything at all from Laughter and Forgetting. In my defense, it has been about fourteen years since I read it ;)

TAS, just read your goodbye. And I just met your blog. Too bad. But you're doing what you need to do for you, and that is the most important thing.
I recently read a post by someone who was thinking about closing down her blog because of an issue with anonymity. I found this comment particularly compelling:
"Do what feels right to you - you do not owe the Interweb anything. It’s more important to have friends than fans, sometimes smaller is better than bigger, and real is better than fake, whether it’s anonymous or not."

Good Evening Folks and a hug to our host, Heretik!
Matt-You feeling blue, come on I'll treat you to a boilermaker, now that I know what they are. Cheer up Buddy!
Posted by: Night Bird | July 31, 2005 at 10:21 PM
Well said, Matt. And hello, Night Bird. Bueno to all who read and lurk.
Posted by: The Heretik | July 31, 2005 at 10:26 PM
Hi, Night Bird? How are you?
I'm not feeling blue, actually, but I have been feeling pressured. That pamphlet was a nice reminder that the pressures are entirely self-imposed.
I will take you up on that boilermaker, though.

Matt - you can have a double!
H-has Chuck been by?
Posted by: Night Bird | July 31, 2005 at 10:30 PM
I say it all the time. Media Girl did something on it. The Thursday burn out, when all the effluent coming down the Wonder Creek comes close to drowning you. So just do what you can do. Ha.

I remember your words, H -- you said "You just have to blog through it."
Good advice.
Posted by: Matt | July 31, 2005 at 10:35 PM
No Chuck. Radio.
Posted by: The Heretik | July 31, 2005 at 10:45 PM
Heretik, I think I need a drink! What have you got in the back room? Vintage.
Posted by: Night Bird | July 31, 2005 at 11:00 PM
Night Bird, I hope you find what you're looking for. Good night, all.
Posted by: Matt | July 31, 2005 at 11:09 PM
Good Night Matt! Be well!
