Write on, Rook. How goes the battle with MT beta?

Hi Joe, I'll have a merlot whilst I drop off this link:
http://greatscat.blogspot.com/2005/07/how-easily-were-distracted.html
It's from the weekend, my remarks on the events with John Conyers in Detroit. I couldn't bring myself to paint a pretty or upbeat picture of it. We got zero coverage from the major local television news, zero coverage from the Detroit Free Press. [If anyone has seen, or knows otherwise, please let me know.]The only media I saw were some nice people from papers I'm not familiar with at all. [I don't mean to insult them, but DAMN.] If any of you participated in any of the Downing St. anniversary programs, I'd be really thrilled to hear your accounts of the day.

Excellent post, Rook, thanks for sharing!

Desi, how about a nice Ballentine Merlot from nothern Napa, right by the legendary Three Palms Vineyard?
Posted by: The Heretik | July 26, 2005 at 08:14 PM
Oooh, from the Napa valley?!? Yum. :) Thanks.

Hey Heretik, if you are opening a good bottle of merlot, I will certainly have a glass. I had the best Thai last night and we had mango and coconut rice for dessert.

Double Scotch, Glen Fiddich if you've got it.

As for the link I'll contribute, you can find some of my Fan Mail here. Really, the comments are even funnier than the post!

tough day?

I'd rather have ALF than the AFL-CIO.

Shake, I included my spelling error in your honor.

Tough day. My mother-in-law is insane. Not in a "oh ho ho, I've got a crazy mother-in-law," way but in a, "Maybe we should start blocking her emails and phone number" way. In a 4,000 miles between us isn't enough way. She's not exactly what you'd call a nice mum to Mr. Shakes.

Bueno. Todo es bueno. Sonoma is a great spot for merlot. Something from the Alexander Valley would typically be big in the fruit, with a nice edge of acidity, Bird. And, Tas, whatever happened to ALF? And what is going on with labor? Glen Fiddich for Desi. Or some of the Balvenie? Neruda left a few glassfuls from the last bottle.

Oh, hell, Shake's Sis, that's just Michelle Malkin. ;)

So, Tas, how many people do post at Loaded Mouth ?
Posted by: The Heretik | July 26, 2005 at 08:24 PM
oh, my, Shakes, I am, going to, weep.
Posted by: jen | July 26, 2005 at 08:24 PM
Shakes, 4000 miles - where do they live? Sorry about the meanness, but I am sure you have a good Mr.
Posted by: Night Bird | July 26, 2005 at 08:26 PM
Sorry to hear about the MIL. I have a similar situation with my own mother. I 'solved' it by moving to the other side of the country, and I've not heard from her since '97. Dysfunctional, I know, but I still have some of my sanity in tact.
Posted by: Desi | July 26, 2005 at 08:26 PM
so she's beyond the usual manipulative passive aggressive mother in law from hell? i'm VERY sorry to hear that. I'm on my second mother in law, the first one passed unfortunately. She was passive aggressive but at least she was a challenge at Scrabble and killed us with kindness. Gawd, I miss her. The new one is pure evil.

Sirrah, where is Marlowe? What a day! I could pull a few pints. Life's but a walking shadow, a poor player, that struts and frets his hour upon the stage, and then is heard no more; it is a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.

Nightbird, is that mango with coconut and rice, or something called 'coconut rice? I love mango, and coconut, never tried em together.
