QUESTION OF THE DAY
What Is Going on at G8 Anyway? Can The World Agree on Anything? And to put it in perspective, if two giants can come together for a common good after years of acrimony, why can’t Bush agree with anybody? What's so funny about peace, love and understanding anyway?

Protesters try to storm summit
Police line breached as leaders fly in.Within half an hour of the 4pm breakthrough an entire field was covered by a snaking procession of hardcore activists trying to reach the hotel. Police reinforcements were flown in by army helicopter to join riot police, some of them on horseback, protecting the fence around the Gleneagles compound.
Geldof urges Blair not to flinch
Sir Bob Geldof today urged Tony Blair to do all he could to help lift Africa out of poverty, telling the prime minister ahead of the start of the G8 summit tonight that he had the "biggest mandate in history".
[GUARDIAN UK NEWSBLOG]
Maybe Bush and Blair will listen to this Geldof kid on making poverty history. Maybe Geldof can even get Bush to come around to chilling out on global warming. Well one of out of two wouldn't be too much to ask.
Geldof was able to get Roger Waters and David Gilmour together to so the real Pink Floyd could entertain the world. Is it too much to ask our leaders to entertain more cooperation?
Question for the Readers: (Personal for the Brave) Is there someone you yourself would like to reunite with? (General for the Snarky but Compassionate) Who would you like to see together again?
Peace, love and understanding...surely Heretik, you do not expect that from Bush. I mean the guy cannot even ride a bicycle.

My 8th grade boyfriend and I were the strongest of buddies...up until last year's election. He loved GWB, I did not, so we had a falling out and have not communicated since last August.
It's been many years since I attended 8th grade, it's been many more years that we've been friends.
Tomorrow is his bday. Think the timing is right for a thaw in the chilly climate.
We'll see what happens.
