IMPEACHMENT: DOWNING STREET STORY HAS LEGS
And Apparently Arms, Hands, and a Body of Disgust. Plus Eyes on Numbers Read Falling Numbers for Bush on . . . . Impeachment
Today’s Zogby Poll has startling numbers for Bush apologists to stomach. Maybe now the mainstream media will take note. 42% of voters nationwide say they would favor bringing impeachment charges against the servant of sovereign people of the United States, President George Bush if it is found he misled the country about reasons for going to war with Iraq
[ZOGBY POLL]
In a sign of the continuing partisan division of the nation, more than two-in-five (42%) voters say that, if it is found that President Bush did not tell the truth about his reasons for going to war with Iraq, Congress should hold him accountable through impeachment. While half (50%) of respondents do not hold this view, supporters of impeachment outweigh opponents in some parts of the country.
NOTE ABOUT THOSE NUMBERS: That’s without any mainstream media coverage to speak of about Downing Street. That’s without any Congressional hearings. Bush will be the last to know. Stick a fork in him. He’s dead. Everybody who is coming on to this late can jump on the bandwagon now. It's headed to Bush's plot on the political cemetary.

Am I the only who finds it disconcerting that 50% would not support impeachment if it was found that Bush lied to instigate the war? It would make sense if that # referred to people refusing to believe he lied (he won the election, which can only mean there are a lot of obtuse Americans), but the fact they's still support even if it were proven he lied is unfathomable to me.

And what percentage of that 42% are absolutely rock-solid positive that Bush did *not* lie us into war (he's a good honest Christian man, after all)?

Ya think? I'm not getting my hopes up as of yet. They'll find some way to keep the Downing Street story out of the news. Oh my god...the new president of Iran is going to kill us all!

That's a measure of how strongly they've been taught to hate liberals.

Can't decide if this poll result is good or bad. I think it's due to the fact that the question was phrased as a hypothetical combined with my very low opinion of people's ability to understand them, or at least approach them honestly. With no support besides my misanthropy, I'd say most poeple answered the question 'should Bush be impeached for lying the country into war.' That 42% think he should be is encouraging. That 50% said no becuase they still can't see the obvious is disheartening.

He's never near you
to comfort and cheer you
when all those sad tears
are fallin', baby, from your eyes.
He might be thrillin', baby, but a-my love
(my love, my love)
So doggone willin',
so kiss him (I wanna see you kiss him)
Go on and kiss him
goodbye.
Nah nah naaa, nah,
hey, hey, hey,
good-byyyye.....
