Democrats today announced they are preparing to draft their own marriage amendment to the United States Constitution. Many traditional Democratic supporters have expressed emotions of outrage and betrayal, while some applaud the Democrats for returning to their core constituency. The immediate, vocal Republican response can not be far off. "This goes way too far," a key Republican operative on the inside indicated.
Many Democrats counter that their proposed amendment does not go far enough. While both the Republican and Democratic bills to amend share restrictive language, they differ in certain key provisions. Republicans were quick to point the most obvious difference. In the Democratic version, only homosexual couples will be allowed to marry.
