KARL ROVE May god bless or damn "reporters" like Viveca Novak. A reporter who leaves herself out of the story is somebody I would really respect.  Like I respect anyone.  Leaving your boss in the dark about what you are doing is something I well know.  Some bosses like that, some don't.

The thing I like about Novak the woman and Woodward the hero is they know how to stretch things out as far as their involvment goes.  Kind of like me.  Some will say it's cynical doing that, but when you know you are screwed, you just push it back to the last minute. 

You got to focus on what can be done in the short term. There will be time later on to think about how screwed and stretched out things got.  And believe me, when you are here like I am, you get a reminder every day, sometimes twice a day, how screwed and stretched out things can get.
