(APPLAUSE) !!!!!!!!!!!!!  How desperate is George Bush? Yesterday he went to new Virginia Governor Jerry Kilgore’s Victory Rally. [White House transcript]

THE PRESIDENT: . . . This man has worked his heart out. He has traveled the great Commonwealth of Virginia talking common sense to the voters. (Applause.) And now it's your time. He's counting on you to get out and turn out the vote, and deliver a great victory on behalf of all people of Virginia by putting him in the governor's chair. (Applause.)
I appreciate you coming out here to the airport. See, we were just flying in from Latin America. (Applause.) Decided to stop a little short of our destination. (Applause.) See, I know a man of character and integrity, and he's standing right next to me. And that's Jerry Kilgore. (Applause.)
When you find a man who's got this kind of character, it makes sense to stop short of the destination to come in and to say to the people of this state, put him in office, and you'll be proud of the job he'll do for you. (Applause.)
He's got a record. See, you can count on him. You know where he stands, and you know he can get the job done. And equally important, you know he doesn't need to run a poll to tell him what to think. (Applause.)
AUDIENCE: Jerry! Jerry! Jerry!

THE ONLY (PROBLEM) is Kilgore lost.  (Applause)  The Resident of the White house doesn’t make sense when he stops short of the destinationon the road of the election and has a (Victory) Rally early. Is this wishful thinking or (delusion)?

AUDIENCE: George!  George! George!

SUGGESTED FURTHER ANALYSIS: WIZBANG has more, and more (respect) for Bush.  May GODWIN God save us all.
ALSO: WINNING IS LOSING Really, Bitches!   Really?  Oy!

WHAT COUNTS? [Joe Gandelman/ The Moderate Voice] Bush made a highly publicized lightning trip to Virginia to try and tip the race there. It didn't work.

SO PERHAPS LOSING IS actually losing.  Oy.

I think this may have been a referendum on Bush's credibility, especially about his word about hard work.
