DRAMA (OR NOT)
THE VALERIE PLAME STORY FINALLY BREAKS BIG TIME or not. The Raw Story may be premature. Or not. This story is about the human cost of treachery. Or not. The plot thickens. Or doesn't. The rock and roll reporter is between a rock and a hard place again. Or not. The prosecutor Fitzgerald is out of control. Or not. The end is near. Or not. This story is endless. Or only getting started. Or not.
SOME SAY IT BETTER than The Heretik ever could. In this current age of mixed loyalties and treacheries yet to be revealed, The Heretik recalls the poet and dramatist of old who could say something about the misrule of the present regime.
For me, a man who rules the entire state and does not take the best advice there is, but through fear keeps his mouth forever shut, such a man is the very worst of men— and always will be. . . . And a man who thinks more highly of a friend than of his country, well, he means nothing to me. I would not stay silent if I saw disaster moving here against the citizens, a threat to their security.
SOPHOCLES PUT THESE WORDS in King Creon's mouth in the drama of Antigone. The beauty of classic drama puts in one man's mouth the wisdom and conflict of many, open to interpretation. We have put our faith in leaders who in bad faith have forced an interpretation untrue to events the consequences of which grow more tragic every day. Who forgets to honestly look at the shadow across the past deserves no light in the future.
