WE HAVE LIVED WITH TERROR For Longer Than We Know. Some will say terror is a threat that haunts us from the outside, but it is more a beast that ravages from within. We have lived with terror far longer than we know. We give names to terrorists with a hope our terror might be contained. Terror seems to surround us because it springs full formed from within.
WITHIN OUR MINDS, within our hearts, within our souls, the beast ranges and ravages at will. The beast’s thirst for blood unquenchable, the fierce animal’s hunger for flesh unbounded, the world would seem doomed to destruction. Our world would be our wasteland and we but wastrels in the wilds of the heart. We would be survivors of our souls. We are forever the victims of the monsters in our minds.
OUR CAPACITY for courage would seem drowned by a fountain of fear, our fear a fire that rains down from the skies. Fire is metaphor for something else. The mind can make of things whatever it will. Such is the grace and curse of imagination. But we have known fire rained down from the sky. Today is the anniversary of the New Nuclear Age, the sign of the beast in the scientific sun, the dawn of the dead, and a new phantasm of ever undying fear.
MAY WE ALWAYS MOURN the dead of Hiroshima, the flash blasted, and the sudden sick who lingered lost among their loved ones.
MAY WE ALWAYS REMEMBER the face of terror that looks back at us in the mirror. Vengeance rules the victor before it ruins the vanquished. Vengeance is the terrror chain that would choke us all.
MAY WE NEVER FORGET we need the other from outside to justify what in our souls what havoc we might wreak. So terror is father to fear, mother to horror. So the world is littered with half living spawn who would ravage life and love. We know who sets loose the half living bird of prey with talons of terror and the tearing beak. That bird in flight flies without rest. Terror can never be called to its cage. The half living bird of prey aflight would seem free to dine on destruction to our limitless dismay.
MAY WE GIVE RELEASE to another bird who will keep the bird that would prey upon us away. Fierce fear is soothed not by the song of an equal eagle, but by the singing of another bird that flies always on the edge of dawn. Another bird sings for the lilt of light. Another bird sings and lifts wings for love. May we all hear now the coo and courage of the fierce dove. May we somehow find a great peace in ourselves. May we then stake a small claim for a small peace with all others.

The real terrorist of the mind is Fear. As a wise president once said:
So, first of all, let me assert my firm belief that the only thing we have to fear is fear itself—nameless, unreasoning, unjustified terror which paralyzes needed efforts to convert retreat into advance.

This is the Anniversary, four years ago the Bin Laden Memo was ignored, sixty years ago the United Stated committed an act so horrible they confiscated all of Japan's film and kept ours out of sight.
Tonight Sundance is airing a special that will show film never seen before about the atrocity.
I do not have cable, I hope that those of you who do will make a point of watching it. I hope that crooks and liars or dembloggers will capture it so I can see some.
Cheney wants to unleash this rain of fire again. That cannot be allowed to happen.
